If someone had told us in 2021 that caring for pets would become such a big part of our lives, we probably would have laughed.

That wasn't the plan at all.

When Yen and I met in 2018, we discovered we shared the same dream: one day, we'd leave the conventional way of living behind and experience a nomadic life. We even imagined travelling in a van.

Three years later, the opportunity finally came.

Yen left his job, and we packed our lives into two suitcases.

We gave away almost everything we owned to our neighbours.

At the time, we were living in Shek O, by the sea. It was peaceful, beautiful, and many people thought we were crazy to leave.

But we were excited.

We weren't chasing a particular destination. We were chasing a different way of living.

For the first time in our lives, there was no monthly salary waiting for us. No office to go back to on Monday. No long-term plan.

We only knew what the next month looked like.

After that, we'd figure it out.

At the time, we didn't know that "one more month" would quietly become two years.

Our first stop was the UK, where we began doing work exchanges with local families. We stayed in different homes, met people from different backgrounds, and slowly settled into a rhythm that felt completely new to us.

One day, while browsing online, I came across a post from a pet sitter in London.

She urgently needed someone to take over a pet sit because she had to leave unexpectedly.
